Learner Autonomy in English Language Learning: Vietnamese EFL Learners’ Perceptions and Practices

Learner autonomy has been regarded as an important value which is expected to be present in any English language students it can have positive effects on their learning. In Vietnam, the notion of learner attracted more attention, and various studies conducted teacher beliefs practices regarding over last decade. Nevertheless, not much evidence provided how EFL perceive practise autonomous learning, especially at a time when there shift towards student-centered instruction. To contribute bridging this gap, study aimed report investigation into Vietnamese students’ perceptions Data were collected from 50 English-majored university Mekong Delta Vietnam by using questionnaire semi-structured interview. It was found that had agreement importance However, perceived level abilities act autonomously just above average. This result same frequency scale reported activities inside outside classroom. Therefore, suggested that, better enhance teaching learning should integrated instruction making integral part curricula.
